S1 E111 SUSAN AASEN - Ojibwa Tribe and Al Capone Hideout partnership
Tim Larson met Susan Aasen at the Al Capone Hideout near Hayward, Wisconsin thanks to Mike and Tam Kahler. The Lac Courte Oreilles Band of the Lake Superior Chippewa Indians of Wisconsin have combined efforts to hold events at the property and restores its buildings.
A 1925 stone and log home with an eight car garage and machine gun turret. Once use for bootlegging and prostitution will hopefully soon be for holiday meal events and weddings.
It's located just off Highway CC south of Hayward, Wisconsin near Couderay. The Ojibwa tribal band and Susan have begun welcoming visitors on Saturdays and Sundays in the summer months. Much more will be announced at later dates through a new website and social media page. This is very much a grass roots effort.
Recorded July 13, 2026 at the Sherman & Ruth Weiss Community Library.
